Edinburgh Science Festival
Disease detectives with scientists from Moredun Research Institute. Disease can be caused by a variety of different microbes. Discover how the cause of an illness can be identified and why catching the culprit is so important.
Biggar Science Festival
The Moredun Disease Detectives returned to the Biggar Science Festival for the third year in a row in September. The interactive activity, designed by researchers at Moredun offers budding young scientists the chance to try their hand at spreading samples on agar then identifying bacteria that cause disease in animals and humans. Lots of fun was had detecting the bad bacteria and then discussing how to avoid them.
